In the press

 BRITTEN'S ALBERT HERRING (Sid)

"...well sung, and best of all, well acted."

     Jeffrey Ganzt, The Boston Globe

"Thankfully, Nussman’s Sid and Gallagher’s Nancy are an enchanting couple with rich voices to match their nuanced chemistry and performances."

     Brian Balduzzi, Arts Impulse

VORES' NO EXIT (Valet)

"Jonathan Nussman brings a stentorian voice and an implacable demeanor to the Valet."

     Jeffrey Ganzt, The Boston Globe

"In Sartre’s play, the role of the Valet is mainly a device to usher the other characters onstage and set the scene.  It can be played for obsequious, Jeeves-like comedy, or as something more sinister.  Composer Vores opted for the latter, and baritone Nussman, tall and vocally powerful, left no doubt who was in charge."

     David Wright, Boston Classical Review

"Nussman’s Valet has an off-center delivery that combines the sensibilities of a luxury hotel concierge and a Secret Service operative, with a touch of Lurch from the Addams Family."

     Brian Schuth, Boston Music Intelligencer

VINES' LOOSE, WET, PERFORATED (Wet)

"New music needs believers on stage to make believers of the audience, and Vines couldn’t have asked for better advocates.... [Nussman] sang with fervor, putting across the alternately broad and subtle shifts in register."

     Arthur Smith, WGBHArts

BRODY'S THE PICTURE OF DORIAN GRAY (Dorian)

"The casting is remarkable. Jonathan Nussman perfectly embodies the pretty boy Dorian Gray from the beginning, his vapidity developing into arrogant dissipation and opium-addicted desperation with intimations of fear and self-loathing in the final scenes."

Cashman Kerr Prince, The Boston Music Intelligencer
